From the UK to Italy and Austria Flights are available from London to Bolzano and Verona in Italy and Innsbruck in Austria. Bolzano is closer but Verona and Innsbruck are more accessible. The cost of a return flight is likely to between £120 to £250 (Italian destinations) and £250 to £300 (Innsbruck) depending on arrangements. Verona British Airways fly direct from Gatwick and are usually cheapest. Alitalia, Lufthansa and Air France fly from Heathrow via Rome, Munich and Paris respectively, and are more expensive (and longer). Bolzano Alitalia fly from Heathrow via Rome Innsbruck Lufthansa fly from Heathrow via Franfurt Austrian Airlines and British Midlands fly from Heathrow via Vienna. Travelling To Merano from Verona, Bolzano and Innsbruck. Car The advice is the same for each. This is what the official website says: 'Merano is situated at the junction of the Passeiertal/Val Passiria, Vinschgau/Val Venosta, Etschtal/Val d'Adige and Ultental/Val d'Ultimo valleys and can thus be accessed from different directions. The most common way to reach Merano is on the A22 motorway (Autobahn/autostrada) either from the north from Innsbruck, via the Brenner/Brennero Pass, or from the south from Verona, exit Bozen Süd/Bolzano sud) to Bolzano. It can also be reached on ordinary roads via the Jaufen/Giovo Pass (Passeiertal/Val Passiria) or via the Reschen/Resia Pass (Vinschgau/Val Venosta).'
